windproof-lighterControlled fire was one of the earliest hallmarks of human civilization. It’s the stuff of myth: Prometheus pilfering fire from the god Zeus and sharing it with all mankind. To this day, we remain keepers of the flame, whether we’re lighting our charcoal grills to cook delicious meals or using fire as a tool in forest management. Portable lighters are the most obvious embodiment of our considerable responsibility.

When stranded in a remote locale or perhaps simply hiking along a mountain trail, a lighter becomes more than just a handy luxury. A windproof lighter can operate in harsh conditions, and its spark can create vital heat sources. For any serious outdoor excursion, it’s not a bad idea to pack a windproof lighter in case the going gets tough.

If you’re interested in the world of diving, it’s important that you not only have all the right gear but also the full training. After all, there’s a reason you have to be certified to scuba dive. There are concrete things you need to learn about how to work the oxygen and safety tips for coming out of deep depths of water. But once you’ve secured all this training and feel comfortable in the deep, you can focus on securing the right equipment.

To that end, one of the most important pieces of dive gear you need is the right diving gloves. These will help keep your hands warm even in very deep and potentially very cold water. It will also offer a buffer between dangerous items and your bare hands. This can include dangerous fish or very sharp underwater coral. When purchasing these gloves, just make sure they have adequate grip and easy mobility. This way, you can still easily manipulate your tank and all other important gear.

Brunton BrewFire Coffee Maker

Now it is possible to get fresh brewed coffee while camping using the new Brunton BrewFire™ Coffee Maker.  This innovative product is just like your coffee maker at home, only this one is fueled by propane or butane fuel and can be taken almost anywhere.  It is rather large with dimensions of 10  x 14 x 10 inches and weighs 6.5 pounds with the carafe. You wouldn’t want to take this backpacking  but the Brunton BrewFire™ Coffee Maker is great for the campsite, the tailgate, picnics and anywhere else you want a fresh cup of coffee. As with any propane powered item, use outdoors or in well ventilated areas only.

Coffee is easy to make:  Just pour in your coffee of choice, turn the knob and flip a switch and you’re brewing up to eight steaming hot cups of java.  It makes 8 cups of coffee in 10 to 12 minutes.   I can smell the aroma of fresh brewed coffee now - think I’ll go get a cup.
