hunterWhen traveling with your hunting buddies, it’s nice to have a place to sleep in a bed, sit by a warm fire, store your hunting bags and eat a hot meal, while also being able to trek out into the wilderness first thing in the morning. Staying at a hunting lodge is the solution for a memorable hunting experience that you’ll want to continue year after year. Unlike a regular wilderness lodge, hunting lodges cater to hunters, ensuring you’re in good company to reminisce about your favorite hunts and even discuss hunting tactics. You’re sure to meet all kinds of new people who will share the same passion as you for the outdoors and for hunting game.

You might even meet a new batch of friends! Hunters know how difficult it can be to relate to people who don’t also enjoy hunting, and by staying at a hunting lodge you’re sure to find common ground with everyone.

What to Wear in a Cold Deer Blind

hunting-gloveIn my part of the country, rifle hunting season lasts from mid November to the end of the month. Needless to say, this is prime time to head out to the woods in search of some white-tail deer. Quite frankly, I barely have time to type at a computer right now. I find myself drawn to hunting camp by some mysterious instinct larger than myself, like a moth to a flame.

Well before opening weekend, I took the time to make sure I had all my gear and supplies together in one place. As far as hunting apparel is concerned, I buy new insulated gloves each year for the long stretches of frigid tedium that go along with keeping watch in a blind. I’ve also stockpiled my hunting knives and warm boots. The only thing left to do is to figure out a way to make it up to my wife. She probably won’t be seeing much of me for the next few weeks.
