What is a Tactical Knife?
The term “tactical” gets thrown around somewhat haphazardly in the knife world, but what does the distinction actually denote? Typically when a knife is referred to as a tactical knife it is in order to highlight the versatile quality of the blade. While some blades are designed for a particular purpose, tactical knives are a jack of all trades.
If you are constantly using your knife to skin fish or some other specialized activity, it would behoove you to invest in a variety of task-specific knives. For general use, however, tactical pocket knives will do. No matter what knife you end up buying, it is always a smart idea to go with a trusted manufacturer like Boker or Gerber.
Always Choose a Dependable Flashlight
Whether you’re camping or out searching for your lost dog at night, there are certain instances where a flashlight is absolutely imperative. To that end, a Pelican flashlight is a particularly easy way to ensure your safety whenever you’re out and about at night. Cars, after all, are required to have headlights on at night so that other cars can see them. People should take a page from this book and always make sure they have a light source so that they too are visible.
That’s why people should only choose high quality and dependable flashlight options. This can include any well-known and trusted brand. Police officers and other individuals who rely on these devices everyday trust these flashlights. While it might not be the difference between life and death for you, it can certainly make your life a lot more convenient if your flashlight works properly!
Roughing It

I grew up camping with my family every summer in the mountains. We would plan our trip in the months nearing summer and anxiously await its arrival. My dad was big on roughing it, so we didn’t bring most of the traditional camping gear you may think of.
To do all of our cooking we would light a campfire. In order to gather food we would catch river trout with homemade hooks and string; filleting them with dad’s old Victorinox Swiss army knives. I will always recall my childhood fondly because of these camping trips. Thanks mom and dad!
Tips for Sharpening Your Tactical Knife

It’s sometimes said that a man is only as good as his tools, which is why it’s tremendously important to keep a sharp tactical knife at the ready. Whether you’re going on an impromptu hunting excursion or relying on the knife for protection, it pays to get rid of that dull edge right away. The first step is to give the knife a once-over with a diamond sharpener or some other coarse, fast-cutting stone.
Concentrate your attention on sharpening the CRKT knife in a uniform fashion. That means keeping the sharpness equal on both sides of the blade. You can benefit from the use of an angle guide, unless you’re an old hand at this. You’ll be able to tell that you’ve sharpened the knife enough when you raise a burr. Finish the process by polishing the edge smooth on both sides.
Handheld Marine Radio - Don’t Leave the Dock Without One

A handheld VHF radio is a useful tool for a variety of tasks aboard any boat, kayak, canoe or PWC.
Handheld VHF radios are relatively inexpensive, starting around $49 for a 2 watt radio. You can get a good submersible vhf for about $150 for a 5 watt model. You may be thinking that your cell phone will suffice, but on the water you shouldn’t count on it. A portable VHF radio gives you the benefit of boat to boat or boat to shore communications without the necessity of dialing a number. In an emergency, that can mean the difference between survival or catastrophe.
So, for the peace of mind alone, it is worth the investment to buy a handheld vhf marine radio. Whether it is your primary communications device or a backup to a fixed mount system, you will wonder how you ever got by without one.
